3.57 million paid employees worked in Türkiye’s trade sector in June 2026, up 3.2% from a year earlier and extending uninterrupted annual job growth to 80 months.
October 2019 was the last month to show a year-on-year decline, underscoring a nearly seven-year expansion in trade-sector payrolls.
1.85 million retail workers made up the largest segment, with employment in retail trade excluding motor vehicles and motorcycles rising 3.7% from 1.79 million a year earlier.
1.33 million wholesale employees kept that segment above 1.3 million, while motor-vehicle and motorcycle trade and repair jobs reached 383,278 in the first half and grew 6.1%.
The figures point to trade remaining a steady source of job creation in Türkiye, with retail still driving the sector’s employment base.
