Resch said the U.S. has an unusually high share of manual Porsche customers: about 80 percent of American GT3 Touring buyers choose a manual, and roughly half of regular GT3 buyers do the same. Those numbers showed that, at least in North America, a three-pedal 911 was not a sentimental idea but a proven demand pattern. That combination of customer pressure, dealer feedback, historical precedent, and hard sales evidence is what effectively forced Porsche Germany to give in. The result was a North America-only manual Carrera S, aimed at drivers who value engagement over the outright speed advantage of the PDK.
