Spectrum Extends 1-Gig Internet to 8,000 Citrus County Locations, Pledges $15,000 Digital Lab Grant

More than 8,000 Citrus County homes and small businesses can now get Spectrum Internet, mobile, TV and voice service as the company said its local network expansion is nearing completion.
The buildout is part of Spectrum’s multi-year rural initiative, backed by more than $7 billion in private investment to add 100,000-plus miles of fiber and reach 1.7 million new locations nationwide.
A $15,000 Beyond the Build grant will be presented to United Way of Citrus County on Aug. 21 to create a Digital Learning Lab supporting students, families and financial literacy participants.
Local officials framed the project as both an infrastructure and skills push, saying broader broadband access and digital training can help businesses, students and households use the new connectivity.
