Motorola Leak Shows 25W Moto Snap Charger as Qi2 Push Broadens Beyond Edge 70 Max

Q: With 90W wired charging so fast, is Motorola's new magnetic Moto Snap actually a game-changer or just a flashy accessory?

Moto Snap looks more like an important ecosystem move than a must-have breakthrough on charging speed alone. On pure speed, Motorola’s own numbers undercut the case for wireless. The Edge 70 Max can add up to 12 hours of use in six minutes over 90W wired charging, while Qi2.2 tops out at 25W wireless. If your priority is getting the most power in the least time, a cable still wins easily. Where Moto Snap could matter is convenience and standardization. Qi2’s magnets improve coil alignment, which reduces the common problem of misplaced phones on wireless pads. That means more reliable charging, less wasted power, and typically less heat than poorly aligned legacy Qi charging. A magnetic puck is also easier to use on desks, nightstands, cars, and with battery packs than a loose cable or ordinary pad. The bigger story is what Moto Snap implies for Motorola’s lineup. The Edge 70 Max already has built-in Qi2 magnets, which is still rare on Android. If Motorola brings that native support to more mid-range and premium phones, it would help build a real accessory ecosystem around stands, car mounts, wallets, and power banks, not just a single charger. That is where Apple’s MagSafe succeeded and where Android has lagged. So Moto Snap is not a game-changer because it beats 90W wired charging. It could be a game-changer if it signals Motorola is finally making magnetic Qi2 support mainstream across more Android phones.
