Google has begun adding generative UI to AI Overviews, extending a feature that builds custom visual layouts, interactive tools and simulations beyond AI Mode.
English-language AI Mode access is already global, while AI Overviews is now rolling out and is expected to be fully available within weeks.
Searches such as "ph scale" can now surface interactive visuals inside an AI Overview, and follow-up questions can refine the same display with more specific data.
Google paired the expansion with back-to-school features including practice quizzes in both surfaces, Lens coaching that starts in AI Overviews and continues in AI Mode, and study notebooks in AI Mode.
The move broadens Google's direct overlap with websites built around calculators, converters and comparison tools as generative UI reaches the larger AI Overviews surface.
