Jared Moskowitz said Rick Scott "doesn't know what he's talking about," rejecting the senator's claim that he fears Democrats' socialist wing and would follow Hasan Piker's lead if re-elected.
Scott made the charge on Monday after Moskowitz's primary, saying whichever Democrat won the seat would back the "Democrat socialists" because moderates are "scared to death" of them.
A 12-point primary win over DSA-backed Oliver Larkin strengthened Moskowitz's case that a centrist Democrat can beat the party's left flank in Florida.
Moskowitz has cast himself as a critic of the DSA and of Piker, though he said Democrats still need to address the economic populism drawing voters to that movement.
