Madison placed seventh in WalletHub’s 2026 ranking of 300 U.S. real estate markets, making it the highest-ranked Wisconsin city in the report.
WalletHub based the list on metrics including job growth, unemployment, foreclosure rates and median home prices, aiming to measure market health beyond affordability alone.
Madison’s standout data point was the nation’s second-lowest foreclosure rate, trailing only Overland Park, Kansas.
Frisco, Texas, topped the national list, while other Wisconsin cities ranked well behind Madison: Green Bay 36th, Kenosha 98th and Milwaukee 187th.
