Summary
Gentner Drummond demanded Gov. Kevin Stitt immediately fire Secretary of State Benjamin Lepak after reviewing body-camera footage from Lepak’s Aug. 14 arrest outside an Edmond McDonald’s.
Police said Lepak showed extremely slurred speech, smelled of alcohol and could not maintain a coherent train of thought; officers also said he gave conflicting accounts of whether he drove there.
Lepak told officers he had attended a church gathering with other fathers and drank less than one beer, while his spokesperson said he was waiting for dinner and was not given a breathalyzer test.
Drummond said the footage showed Lepak was thoroughly inebriated and accused him of likely lying to police, calling the conduct unbecoming of a high-ranking state official.
Stitt appointed Lepak secretary of state in October 2025, and Drummond said a prior arrest involving Lepak being found unconscious in a running vehicle should have disqualified him.
