Jahml McDonald, 50, was arrested after an Aug. 18 raid on a Texas City home where authorities seized about 1 kilogram of fentanyl pills and filed two felony controlled-substance charges.
A two-month investigation led to the raid after surveillance near Giles Middle School, College of the Mainland and two elementary schools showed what appeared to be teenagers buying narcotics from the residence.
Detectives said the brightly colored fentanyl pills were disguised as ecstasy, and also seized THC wax, marijuana, THC vapes, promethazine and dozens of liquor bottles from what police called a "full-service drug operation."
McDonald had previously served 25 years for murder and was already out on bond in a pending marijuana case; a judge kept his combined bond at $2 million.
Prosecutors said they will seek the maximum penalty, framing the case as a child-safety threat after neighbors reported heavy traffic and frequent teen visits to the house.
