Reports also indicate some on-device AI tasks can run locally through Gemini Nano, which helps with speed and privacy. Where the gap shows is with heavier or newer AI features. Premium Pixels have more RAM, more camera hardware, and newer Tensor chips, which give them more headroom for advanced on-device models, stronger multitasking, and features tied to newer hardware generations. The Pixel 10a also lacks some flagship hardware, such as a telephoto lens, so even when AI helps with zoom or image processing, it cannot fully replace the premium models’ camera versatility. In practical terms, the Pixel 10a delivers most of the AI features average users will notice day to day, especially assistant, search, calling, and photo tools. But Google’s premium Pixels remain better positioned for the most demanding Gemini capabilities, future AI upgrades, and the fullest on-device experience.
