Spain-Morocco H1 Trade Climbs as Exports Hit €6.42 Billion

Spanish exports to Morocco rose 3.5% in the first half of 2026 to €6.4205 billion, while imports increased 4.1% to €5.7955 billion, extending bilateral trade after it reached €22.757 billion in 2025.
Morocco remained Spain’s top trading partner for both exports and imports despite a 4.1% drop in Spanish exports last year, which the report linked mainly to weaker fuel sales.
Trade ties sit alongside migration, security and logistics links that gained fresh attention after tens of thousands of migrants crossed into Ceuta on July 30-31, reviving debate over Morocco’s leverage.
Madrid’s push to preserve the relationship has included backing Morocco’s autonomy plan for Western Sahara and reopening a "new chapter" in ties after the 2021 diplomatic crisis.
Morocco’s growing weight also reflects Tanger Med’s rise as a logistics hub and its expanding automotive base, which increasingly make it a production and supply-chain platform for Europe and Africa.
