Afipsky Oil Refinery in Krasnodar Krai was reportedly hit overnight on Aug. 25, with social-media footage showing a large fire and the extent of damage still unclear.
6.25 million tons of crude a year flow through Afipsky—about 2% of Russia's refining capacity—making it one of southern Russia's largest fuel plants and a recurring Ukrainian target.
Russian channels also reported air defenses active near the Novoshakhtinsk refinery in Rostov Oblast, though no immediate damage there was confirmed.
Ukraine has used long-range strikes on refineries to squeeze military fuel supplies and oil revenue, even after attack patterns recently shifted toward targets such as Ozon and Wildberries facilities.
The reported strike follows Aug. 22 attacks on the Novokuibyshevskyi refinery and an Ozon logistics center in Samara Oblast, underscoring Kyiv's broader campaign against Russian energy and logistics infrastructure.
