Taiwan Manufacturing Confidence Hits 4-Year High at 101.09 as AI Chip Demand Lifts Orders

Taiwan’s manufacturing climate index rose 2.48 points to 101.09 in July, its highest level in more than four years, as AI-driven demand strengthened the island’s export-heavy economy, TIER said.
AI, high-performance computing and new smartphone launches boosted semiconductor shipments, while exports and overseas orders improved and more than 40% of electronics and machinery firms turned optimistic on the outlook.
Advanced-process fabs, advanced-packaging plants and high-end testing lines were running at high utilization, with stronger demand also spreading to power-management chips, memory, silicon photonics and mature-node production.
The rebound was uneven: the services climate index fell 1.29 points to 98.2 after four months of gains on market volatility, while the construction index climbed 2.96 points to 110.55 for a fourth straight monthly increase.
The broader AI buildout is also lifting Taiwan’s supply chain, with SEMI saying the island bought US$21.7 billion of semiconductor materials last year—30% of global demand—and remains the world’s top consumer for a 16th year.
