US Accuses Canada of 300% Dairy Tariffs as Trump Presses Market Access

Brooke Rollins said Canada levies tariffs of up to 300% on some US dairy products, and said Washington will keep pressing Ottawa for fairer access during ongoing trade talks.
Trump and US Trade Representative Jason Greer are driving the negotiations, with Rollins arguing current USMCA arrangements have failed to deliver the market access US dairy farmers were meant to receive.
Rollins said the dispute is fueling uncertainty across rural America, even as the administration claims agriculture is central to all 20 of its new trade agreements.
She also defended Trump’s 90-day allowance for 300,000 metric tonnes of ground beef imports, saying a supply gap opened after the US blocked live Mexican cattle and kept about 1 million head out of the country.
Canada and Mexico remain key US farm trading partners, leaving the dairy fight as part of a broader push to reopen markets, rebuild the US cattle herd and stabilize food supply chains.
