911 Audio Reveals 6 Confirmed Gunshot Wounds in Seattle Festival Shooting as 15-Year-Old Remains Held

Q: If the teen's ghost gun didn't fire the fatal shots, who is the unknown killer still roaming free after the Seattle festival?

Police do not yet know. The fatal shooter has not been publicly identified, and investigators say at least one gunman remains unaccounted for after the Bite of Seattle shooting. What is known is that preliminary ballistics excluded the 15-year-old’s Polymer80 “ghost gun” from the bullets that killed bystanders Carlos Israel Sanchez Villalba, 44, and Ashley Whitehead, 56. Court records and police statements also indicate shell casings from multiple weapons were found, with evidence suggesting at least four guns may have been fired. Investigators believe the gunfire involved the 15-year-old, 19-year-old Junior Cee Niko-Semo, who died at the scene, and at least one additional unidentified suspect who fled. One witness told police an unidentified Black male in a light blue top appeared to fire the initial burst, striking Niko-Semo before the 15-year-old began shooting. Police have not publicly confirmed whether that person fired the fatal shots that killed the bystanders. So, if the teen’s ghost gun was not the murder weapon in those deaths, the most likely answer from the current record is that the killer is either the still-unidentified fleeing suspect or another as-yet-unidentified shooter tied to the multiple firearms evidence. Authorities have not announced homicide charges against anyone and are still reviewing surveillance, witness accounts and crime-lab results to determine who fired the deadly rounds.
