Investigators did not solve the case through eyewitnesses alone; they followed the digital trail created by the victims’ own devices and vehicle technology. Police traced a stolen MacBook through Apple’s Find My service. They also used location data tied to a spare Range Rover key and the Range Rover app. Those signals led detectives to a home in northwest Miami-Dade. When officers checked the location, they found both stolen vehicles — the 2023 Range Rover and the 2020 Porsche Taycan — parked outside, confirming the lead. That turned the burglars’ haul into evidence against them. By taking connected, high-value property and keeping it nearby instead of quickly moving or disabling it, the suspects effectively carried tracking beacons back to their residence. Once police obtained a search warrant, they recovered the vehicles, the MacBook trail, stolen documents, a Range Rover key fob, and valuable artwork, including a sculpture worth more than $500,000. In short, the same luxury electronics and vehicles that made the burglary lucrative also made it easy to trace. Their built-in apps, location services, and recoverable identifiers gave police a direct route to the suspects within days.

Miami-Dade police arrested Geybert Alexander Garcia, 40, and Melany Pavon Perdomo, 24, on Aug. 25 after they allegedly looted a Coral Gables townhome owned by two men killed in a Kenya helicopter crash.
Between Aug. 20 and Aug. 22, investigators say the pair stole two luxury vehicles, jewelry, documents, electronics and artwork, including a sculpture valued at more than $500,000, from the nearly $3 million property.
Apple Find My data from a stolen MacBook, plus location signals from a spare key and the Range Rover app, led officers to a northwest Miami-Dade residence where both vehicles were found.
Police say a search turned up victims' documents, a Range Rover key fob, valuable artworks and materials consistent with making or altering fraudulent IDs; Garcia and Perdomo face burglary and grand theft charges, with arraignments set for Sept. 28.
The home belonged to Henry Parra, 55, and Adam Hlavaty, 42, who were among seven people killed Aug. 19 in a safari helicopter crash in Kenya's Samburu County that remains under investigation.
