South Carolina Confirms 4 Rabid Animals in 4 Counties, Exposing 20 Pets and 1 Person

Statewide, South Carolina has recorded 78 rabid animals in 2026, versus an average of about 136 annual positive cases since 2002.
County totals now stand at five cases in Greenville, six in Greenwood, three in Pickens and two in Beaufort, as health officials again urged people not to handle bats or wild animals and to keep pets vaccinated.
