Q: Will the OnePlus 16's massive 9,000mAh battery turn this ultra-thin-bezel flagship into an uncomfortably heavy brick?

Probably not, but it depends on how OnePlus packages the battery. A rumored 9,000mAh cell sounds enormous, yet leaks point to a dual-cell design of about 8,780mAh typical capacity, which is the kind of architecture Chinese brands increasingly use to keep charging speeds high and thickness manageable. That matters because battery size alone does not determine whether a phone becomes a “brick.” Silicon-carbon battery tech and dense cell packaging can deliver much more capacity without a proportional jump in weight. There is still reason for caution. The OnePlus 16 is also rumored to have a 6.78-inch display, a high-refresh-rate panel up to 165Hz or 185Hz, a flagship Snapdragon chip, and possibly a 200MP camera. Those parts all add mass, and if OnePlus keeps 100W to 120W charging and adds 50W wireless charging, thermal and structural demands could push weight higher than a typical flagship. The thin-bezel design does not necessarily mean the phone itself will be thin. Ultra-narrow bezels mainly reduce the border around the display, not the depth of the chassis. So buyers should not assume “all-screen” styling means a slim, light device. Without official dimensions or weight, the safest reading is that the OnePlus 16 is more likely to be heavier than mainstream flagships, but not automatically uncomfortably so. If the battery rumor is accurate, OnePlus is likely betting that exceptional endurance will outweigh any moderate increase in heft.
