Summary
Randy Quaid escalated his criticism of Anne Hathaway’s role in “Days of Thunder 2,” urging Tom Cruise to bring back Nicole Kidman instead and calling Hathaway “not sexy” and “woke” in posts on X.
The backlash followed Cruise’s announcement that Hathaway will co-lead the Paramount sequel as a team owner and engineer, while Cruise returns as NASCAR driver Cole Trickle from the 1990 original.
Quaid, who played a race team owner in the first film, also posted a video saying Cruise had called him about the sequel, though Paramount had no immediate comment on his remarks or involvement.
Jonathan Levine is directing the IMAX-shot film from a Will Staples script, with Cruise, Jerry Bruckheimer and Tommy Harper producing for a June 2, 2028 release.
