Dolly Parton Returns 2 Songs to Country Top 10 as Streams Jump More Than 500%

“Jolene” and “9 to 5” reentered Billboard’s Hot Country Songs top 10 at Nos. 7 and 8 for the Sept. 5 chart, days after Parton’s Aug. 25 death at age 80.
10.2 million U.S. streams for “Jolene” and 9.5 million for “9 to 5” — up 583% and 520% week over week — plus stronger radio play and sales drove the comeback.
Four more Parton songs returned to the country chart, while her top-10 span widened to 58 years and seven months, more than 20 years beyond her previous stretch.
54.3 million on-demand streams on Aug. 26 made Parton the most-streamed U.S. artist that day, helped by tribute programming and all-Parton playlist shifts from iHeartRadio.
The surge also lifted “Jolene” and “I Will Always Love You” onto the Hot 100 top 40 and pushed Ultimate Dolly Parton to No. 3 on Top Country Albums with 59,000 units.
