Pasqal and True Nexus said they have encoded selected protein structures tied to gelation on Pasqal’s neutral-atom quantum hardware, calling it a first step toward making protein functionality computationally accessible.
The effort combines AI-driven protein analysis with quantum computing to model how proteins gel, bind and foam—behaviors that have long resisted classical simulation and forced food companies into costly trial-and-error development.
The companies said better control of structure-function links could help design improved proteins for food and biotech, especially in plant-based, halal and regionally sourced products as global protein demand nears $1 trillion by 2030.
Saudi Arabia’s MCIT backed the project as a showcase for applied quantum technology under Vision 2030, with the same approach proposed for broader use in drug discovery, materials science, energy and finance.
