Anthbot Unveils €2,500 R730 Mower With Thermal Animal Detection and Edge Trimmer

Anthbot used IFA 2026 to show the R730, a robotic mower prototype due next spring that pairs an infrared sensor with an extendable string-trimmer arm aimed at safer, cleaner autonomous mowing.
The thermal system is designed to spot heat signatures from hedgehogs, rabbits and other dusk or night animals that optical cameras can miss, though the company showed only thermal stills and a limited dummy demo.
A rear boom swings a trimmer head out to the mower’s right side to cut lawn edges that usually need manual cleanup, then retracts when the machine nears an obstacle.
Four driven wheels, active front steering, two lidar modules, a stereo camera, GNSS and 4G-based NRTK positioning are meant to handle winding terrain and slopes up to 84%.
Anthbot says the 270 Wh R730 can cover 3,000 to 4,000 square meters a day; a €2,000 R720 variant drops thermal imaging and makes the trimmer arm optional.
