Will Lovelace and Dylan Southern said Oasis’s first prolonged reunion in 15 years was filmed remotely, with fixed camera rigs left in rehearsal rooms to avoid intruding on Liam and Noel Gallagher.
The directors said the brothers showed no dramatic reconciliation, instead launching straight into a workmanlike run-through of songs including “Wonderwall” and “Champagne Supernova” as they prepared the comeback tour.
That disciplined approach, they said, helped power the world tour that opened in Cardiff, where lingering tension eased once the band met a crowd that had waited 16 years for the reunion.
Southern said filming every show from inside the audience revealed an emotional release that went beyond nostalgia, with fans reacting as if the concerts were bigger than the band itself.
The documentary “Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger” premieres in Venice before a Disney+ release, with Imax concert footage shot by cinematographers recruited across multiple tour stops.
