Corie A. Walsh, 40, was charged with three counts of murder after her 2-year-old son was found unresponsive Tuesday at their Frankfort, Illinois, home and later died at a hospital.
Police said Walsh was found with wounds believed to be self-inflicted but non-life-threatening and remained hospitalized Friday; she is to be moved to the Will County Adult Detention Facility after treatment.
FOX 32 reported the boy was strangled, and police said three other people inside the home were unharmed when officers responded about 36 miles southwest of Chicago.
The case has shaken the Frankfort community, with neighbors telling local media it recalled the Lindsay Clancy child-killing case in Massachusetts.
