The likely regret point is video: despite winning in still photos, the Pixel 11 Pro appears weaker than the iPhone 17 Pro for video, and one of its headline stabilization features has a major catch. Reports and testing say the Pixel 11 Pro’s video quality is good but still trails the best rivals, especially Apple, in stabilization, motion handling, and low-light video. DXOMARK specifically found residual motion in dynamic scenes and visible noise in low light, while noting the iPhone 17 Pro remains ahead overall in video performance. The bigger hidden flaw is Pro Stable Video. Google markets it as a premium stabilization mode, but it is tied to Video Boost, which means the footage must be uploaded to Google’s servers for processing. In practice, that means no true on-device capture for this mode, no access without a reliable internet connection, and a delay before you get the finished clip. Google also confirmed users cannot manually force the mode on; it only activates automatically in shaky, bright scenes. That creates two buyer risks. People expecting iPhone-like instant, local video reliability may be disappointed, and anyone filming while traveling, in poor coverage areas, or on limited data may not be able to use one of the Pixel’s signature video features at all. Some reporting also says stabilization in Magic Capture is worse than regular video mode, adding to concerns that Google’s best video tricks rely too heavily on cloud processing.
