Iran Fires Ballistic Missiles at 2 US Warships After US Hits 3 Oil Tankers

Iran’s IRGC said it launched several ballistic missiles at a US aircraft carrier and another warship after US strikes disabled two Iranian tankers and sank a third; CENTCOM said the attacks were evaded.
Strait of Hormuz footage aired by the IRGC also showed explosives-laden projectiles hitting multiple ships and a US-built sea drone, underscoring Tehran’s threat of faster, heavier retaliation for any further US action.
The exchange comes amid a months-long US naval blockade that Washington says has redirected about 90 commercial vessels, while TankerTrackers estimates August Middle East crude exports were down 39% from a 18.5 million bpd baseline.
Iran says the blockade has not fully stopped exports, but Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said only about 30 million barrels of Iranian crude remain unsold to China as Washington presses its sanctions-and-blockade campaign.
