Flight 7598’s cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder have been recovered after the Amazon Air cargo jet ran 1,300 feet past the runway on Sunday, NTSB Chair Jennifer Homendy said.
Two crew members were aboard the flight from Puerto Rico when it struck a white Ford van carrying seven contract cleaning workers, broke through the perimeter fence and hit a Toyota Corolla on 67th Avenue.
Investigators reached the scene at 18:00 local time Sunday and remain there, with victim recovery still the agency’s immediate priority.
The NTSB said it will examine the runway’s EMAS overrun-arresting system and the relationship between Amazon and 21 Air, the carrier contracted to move the cargo.
