Because Niantic’s new Sendai system reserves only the right to buy a ticket, not a slot for a particular day. Under the announced process, trainers register interest for Wild Area: Sendai • Tohoku between Sept. 11 and Sept. 15, and entries are then handled in the order received. If selected, a trainer gets an in-game reservation notice and a dedicated purchase window. Niantic explicitly says that successful registration “guarantees a ticket during the assigned purchase window,” but “does not guarantee a specific event date.” That leaves traveling fans uncertain because the event itself runs across multiple days in Sendai, from Nov. 6 to Nov. 8, 2026, and the date they can actually attend depends on what inventory is still available when their purchase window opens. In other words, they may know they can buy in, but not whether they will land Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. For visitors booking flights, hotels, and rail travel, that is the key gap. Pokémon GO’s usual in-person ticketing system often lets buyers choose a date and time if availability remains, but for Sendai this demand-control system separates reservation from date confirmation. Niantic appears to be using it to manage heavy interest and prioritize committed players, while avoiding an open rush that could overwhelm sales. So the uncertainty is built into the design: a reservation secures access to purchase, but the actual event date is only determined later, at checkout, subject to remaining supply.

Sept. 11 at 8:00 a.m. JST marks the start of first-come, first-served registration for Pokémon GO Wild Area: Sendai • Tohoku, with interest submissions closing Sept. 15 at 7:59 a.m. JST.
Niantic said the change is meant to keep ticketing smooth; registrations are free, processed in the order received, and successful applicants will be notified through in-game News.
Notified trainers will get a dedicated purchase window and can buy up to four tickets, though the company said it cannot guarantee a specific event date even when a ticket is reserved.
Extra Day and other add-ons can be added after purchase, and Niantic said it will update players if tickets remain after the first registration wave.
The new process applies only to Sendai • Tohoku; global and Mexico City Wild Area tickets are unaffected and will go on sale separately ahead of the November events.
