Lindsay Clancy is defending him because, according to her attorney Kevin Reddington, she believes those claims are untrue and that Patrick has been unfairly targeted while already enduring an extraordinary loss. The defense says she understands why the case attracts intense social media attention, but “certainly does not agree” with theories accusing him. That position is consistent with the case presented at trial: both prosecutors and defense agree Lindsay Clancy killed Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months, in January 2023. The dispute is not over who caused the deaths, but whether Lindsay Clancy was legally criminally responsible. Prosecutors argued the killings were planned and intentional. Her lawyers argued she was in the grip of postpartum psychosis, worsened by medication and marked by hallucinations. Reddington also said Patrick stood by Lindsay during her mental health decline, taking her to doctors, hospitals and treatment, and that he “did not deserve” the online attacks. After the mistrial, Patrick’s legal team warned that those spreading the allegations could face legal consequences.

Patrick Clancy's lawyers warned Tuesday that legal action is being considered against true-crime creators spreading what they called outright falsehoods, adding that law enforcement has been notified.
Five days after a mistrial, Reddington said Clancy remains suicidal and on 24/7 one-on-one watch, while maintaining she acted under postpartum psychosis and medication effects rather than criminal intent.
An 11-1 deadlock after 38 hours of deliberations left prosecutors to decide whether to retry the 2023 case; the next hearing is set for Sept. 29, and the defense plans to seek dismissal.
