Artemis II Leaders Wiseman, Glover Retire From Active NASA Roles, Leaving 1 Crew Member Active

Reid Wiseman and Victor Glover said Wednesday they are leaving active NASA astronaut duty after commanding and piloting Artemis II’s April lunar flight, but will stay on as emeritus astronauts.
That new status lets both men mentor and train NASA staff for future moon missions; Glover already started a leadership role at California Polytechnic State University on Sept. 1, while Wiseman’s next plans were not disclosed.
Christina Koch is now the only Artemis II crew member still on NASA’s active astronaut roster after Canadian crewmate Jeremy Hansen retired from his space agency in July.
Artemis II flew four astronauts around the moon in April and set a new human distance record, making NASA’s effort to retain Wiseman and Glover’s expertise part of its broader lunar program.
