What is known is that the Paramount musical comedy, developed under the working title *Whitney Springs*, remains undated after being pushed from July 2025 to March 2026 and then removed from the release calendar altogether. Multiple reports say the film includes original, unreleased Kendrick Lamar songs, but neither Paramount nor pgLang has announced any separate soundtrack plan, release strategy, or new production timeline. The strongest sign the music could still emerge is that Trey Parker and Matt Stone say they “still believe in the project” and are “working hard at finishing the movie.” Paramount had also previously praised the script, suggesting the studio had real confidence in the film rather than abandoning it outright. Trey Parker and Matt Stone said they take “full responsibility” for delays to their Paramount musical comedy with Kendrick Lamar, which is now undated after repeated schedule slips.
The pair said South Park production and “life’s circumstances” slowed the film, though they added they are still working to finish the project with Lamar and Dave Free’s pgLang.
Paramount had already moved the movie from July 4, 2025 to March 20, 2026 before pulling it from the calendar in November.
The film, reportedly titled Whitney Springs, centers on a Black reenactor clashing with a racist Midwest mayor played by Parker and includes unreleased Lamar songs.
The delay comes as South Park remains active: the series just won its sixth Emmy and its 29th season premieres Sept. 16.
