More than $1 billion in damages is at stake after Lineage sued Altus Power, Los Palos Street Operating and Pearce Services over the June 17 fire that destroyed its 500,000-square-foot Boyle Heights cold-storage warehouse.
About 200 faulty electrical connections had been identified by May 2026, including roughly 10 near the eventual ignition area, and Lineage says the contractors re-energized the rooftop solar array despite requests to wait for proof repairs were complete.
More than $100 million in cleanup costs and months of polluted, foul-smelling air followed the blaze; Lineage says the same substandard solar equipment also caused an Aug. 14, 2024 fire at the facility.
Los Palos and Pearce denied responsibility, arguing Lineage as tenant bore cleanup duties and saying the fire's cause remains unproven while the Los Angeles Fire Department investigation continues.
Sept. 5 marked Lineage's announced completion of debris cleanup, but Mayor Karen Bass has said the company should not rebuild in Boyle Heights and city rebuilding plans remain on hold.
