Guernsey Employment Trust Sees 25% Demand Jump, Eyes 300 Referrals in 2026

By August, Guernsey Employment Trust had already matched its total 2025 referrals, putting it on track for about 300 cases this year after demand rose 25% year on year.
Mental health needs are now the main reason people seek help from the trust, followed closely by autism, as chief executive Nikki Ioannou-Droushiotis linked the rise to greater awareness of disability and neurodiversity.
Under-25s are making up more of those approaching the service, which supports people aged 16 and over into work and is funded by Guernsey's Committee for Employment and Social Security.
Placements at Les Cotils and cleaning firm Q3 were cited as examples of the trust's impact, with employers offering work experience and, in some cases, creating roles that become permanent jobs.
