Summary
London’s average home price dropped 3.3% from a year earlier in July to £569,000, marking an 11th straight annual decline and the weakest reading since January 2024.
ONS data showed Inner London was hit particularly hard, leaving the capital’s average price £19,000 below its recent peak reached in July 2025.
England as a whole moved the other way: the average house price rose 1.1% year on year, or £3,000, to £293,000 in July.
The latest figures extend London’s housing-market slump even as rents in the capital and elsewhere continue to rise again.
