Rey Mysterio told OutKick ahead of Triplemania Night 1 in Las Vegas that he supports celebrities and athletes entering pro wrestling, calling the collaborations "fun and cool."
Mysterio said crossover appearances expand wrestling’s audience and give outsiders a new respect for the craft once they step into the ring and realize "this s--- is real."
WWE has leaned into that strategy in recent years with appearances from Jason Kelce, Bad Bunny, Jelly Roll, Ryan Garcia, Cam Skattebo and Lil Yachty, while Tom Brady has said he would consider a WWE storyline.
Mysterio framed the trend as part of wrestling’s long history, citing early celebrity involvement from Mr. T, Muhammad Ali and Cyndi Lauper at WrestleMania 1 and arguing the exchange also helps wrestlers break into film and TV.
