Prosecutors Weigh Retrial in Lindsay Clancy Case After 11-1 Jury Split

Plymouth County prosecutors are deciding whether to retry Lindsay Clancy or pursue a plea after jurors deadlocked 11-1, with only one juror favoring murder convictions.
That split underscored the central obstacle: persuading 12 Massachusetts jurors to unanimously reject Clancy's insanity defense in the killings of her three children.
Former prosecutor Neama Rahmani said a deal would make sense strategically but looks unlikely because defense lawyer Kevin Reddington has rejected any outcome involving prison time.
Reddington has said he would consider a reduced second-degree charge and a bench trial, seeking probation and treatment instead of incarceration for Clancy, who is paralyzed after a 2023 suicide attempt.
Judge William Sullivan has impounded jurors' identities indefinitely over safety threats, and Clancy is scheduled to return to court on Sept. 29.
