GitLab Tightens API and Git Request Limits From Oct. 19 as Free Users Face Preview Windows

Unauthenticated automations, including those hitting paid accounts without credentials, are also in scope, while most enterprise users keep higher limits and see no changes until January.
GitLab said most users already operate within the new thresholds, framing the move as resource management aimed at slowing heavy automated use such as AI coding tools.
GitLab joins peers including GitHub and Anthropic, which have also imposed tighter rate limits on developer-facing services.
