Michael P. Desronvil, the lone juror who blocked a unanimous verdict in Lindsay Clancy’s trial, has hired attorney Edward Paltzik and says he never doubted prosecutors proved her criminal responsibility.
Desronvil said other jurors cut him off when he raised alternative theories, despite his view that the physical evidence, witnesses and prosecution’s case showed Clancy planned the killings of her three children.
Edward Paltzik said Desronvil will not give more media interviews for now and is focused on his health and safety after public criticism following the Sept. 4 mistrial.
Mark Astor, a former prosecutor and behavioral health law expert, said retaining counsel suggests Desronvil is defending his reputation and warned the scrutiny could deter future jury service.
Plymouth County prosecutors are still deciding whether to retry Clancy, 36, on three first-degree murder counts; she returns to court Sept. 29 for a status hearing.
