A Qualcomm prototype phone used AI to create a roughly 5-foot audio bubble that transmitted only the speaker’s voice during a live call demo at Snapdragon Summit.
Using its onboard microphones, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 device triangulated surrounding sound and stripped out noise from both outside and inside the bubble.
In the demonstration, music from a Bluetooth speaker about 10 feet away and even clapping next to the phone were inaudible on the other end of the call.
Qualcomm pitched the feature as a boost for call privacy and clarity in noisy or sensitive settings, especially when users do not have noise-canceling headphones.
The company did not say when the technology might ship in commercial devices, but the demo extends Qualcomm’s broader summit push around AI-driven audio.
