Downtown Inc. recognized 14 new businesses at York’s Central Market House while celebrating J.R.’s Fries’ 20th anniversary, underscoring the market’s role as a small-business incubator.
Reasonable stand rates let entrepreneurs test ideas without the roughly $150,000 often needed to launch a standalone business, local leaders said.
More than 165 businesses have joined York City in the past five years, with new vendors including Yaya’s Cravings, La Papleta and Copper Bonnet using the market to expand or start out.
Business owners said the historic hall also preserves community ties and supports York’s destination economy by drawing shoppers into a shared local space.
