Google Launches Drive Projects for Faster Gemini Analysis on Workspace Files

Google has added Drive Projects, a Workspace feature that lets Gemini analyze only a selected set of files, emails, chats, calendar items, notes, or tasks instead of scanning an entire Drive library.
The feature is aimed at users with large file collections that can slow Gemini; by narrowing the source set, Google says responses should arrive faster and with more relevant context.
Projects are available only with paid Gemini-enabled plans, including Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Standard, and Enterprise Plus, and can be created only in the Drive web app for now.
Users can build a project from scratch or save an existing Gemini chat as one, then ask the AI to summarize, compare, extract, or export data from attached sources.
Shared projects support collaboration, but file-level permissions still control access, collaborators' Gemini chats remain private, and Gmail threads attached to a project stay hidden from other users.
