Xbox Launches Disc-to-Digital Licensing for Xbox One and Series X Games

Summary
Xbox opened disc-to-digital licensing to all players on Sept. 29, letting eligible Xbox One and Series X discs unlock digital versions starting today.
Disc insertion triggers the entitlement, and supported Xbox Play Anywhere titles can also be installed and played on PC once the license is registered.
Microsoft said eligibility is limited and can change over time because of technical, licensing, publishing and manufacturing factors; original Xbox and Xbox 360 discs are excluded.
One key condition remains murky: Xbox warns users may lose digital-licensing benefits without possession of the qualifying disc, even though the feature removes the need to keep it inserted while playing.
The rollout follows Insider testing and earlier partner expansion that had already brought the catalog to at least 1,585 games, with SEGA joining Ubisoft.
