Summary
Walker Buehler was moved to the paternity list just after San Diego announced its NLDS roster, with Randy Vásquez taking his spot until Buehler returns.
Robbie Ray will start Game 1 and Michael King Game 2, leaving Buehler likely lined up for Game 3 or 4 at Petco Park after staying in San Diego for the birth of his child.
By rule, Buehler will replace Vásquez once he rejoins the club, keeping the Padres at 11 pitchers and 15 hitters for the series.
That 15-hitter build carried over from the Wild Card sweep of the Cubs, when San Diego used all 15 position players across 2 games, including 3 catchers.
