Summary
James Cody Bryant, 30, was arrested Tuesday in Bellingham and charged federally with conspiracy to murder persons in a foreign country over the Feb. 10 school massacre in British Columbia.
Prosecutors say Bryant sent money, offered advice and agreed to record and rebroadcast the attack, which killed eight people; a Twitch livestream lasted about 20 seconds before shutting down.
FBI officials said Bryant also helped 18-year-old shooter Jesse Van Rootselaar start a car after two family members had already been killed, enabling the trip to Tumbler Ridge Secondary School.
Investigators traced the pair's relationship to Omegle about three years earlier and reviewed thousands of messages, many on Discord, showing at least six months of violent planning and a focus on notoriety.
Canadian police alerted U.S. authorities within days of the massacre, and RCMP said its investigation remains active, with possible additional charges in Canada still under consideration.
