Based on what Red Magic has shown, the lighter feel appears to come mainly from chassis redesign rather than any disclosed battery breakthrough. The company has highlighted slimmer 0.96mm bezels, softer corners, a narrower body, a flush rear camera module and a more compact overall shape. Those changes can reduce bulk and improve hand feel even if battery capacity stays large. If the 8,400mAh leak proves accurate, the most likely explanation is higher battery energy density and tighter internal packaging. Phone makers can sometimes fit a larger battery without a big weight penalty by using newer cell chemistry, stacked or dual-cell layouts, thinner structural components and more space-efficient cooling and motherboard design. Red Magic’s teased cooling upgrade could also be part of that repackaging effort. Still, there is no hard evidence yet on the exact engineering trade-offs. Until the October 15 launch, it is not possible to say definitively how Red Magic balanced lower weight with such a large battery, or whether the leaked battery specification itself is accurate.

Red Magic has started taking reservations for the 12 Pro+ on its website and JD.com in China, ahead of the phone’s October 15 launch at 2:30 p.m. local time.
A 100-yuan deposit unlocks promotional perks the company values at up to 4,300 yuan, including a Red Magic Cooler 8 Pro, gaming benefits, cashback and trade-in incentives.
Red Magic is pitching the flagship as thinner, lighter and more rounded than the 11 Pro+, with screen borders cut to 0.96mm from 1.25mm while keeping an under-display front camera.
Performance remains central: the phone is expected to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, and a Geekbench listing for model NX819J showed 3,677 single-core and 12,679 multi-core points.
The company has also teased upgraded cooling and better everyday software, while leaked specs point to an 8,400mAh battery with 120W wired and 80W wireless charging that remains unconfirmed.
