Summary
SteamOS 0.4 has moved from beta to the stable channel for all Steam Frame users, bringing battery-life improvements, VR streaming upgrades and a broad set of fixes.
Up to 12% power-efficiency gains apply to both streaming and local gameplay, while Valve also added a higher presence-sensor sensitivity option to keep displays on more reliably.
VR streaming changes target image quality and connection stability, including a chroma fix, audio reliability improvements and remedies for "Error 17"—with the PC side requiring SteamVR 2.18.2 or later to reduce that issue.
The patch also fixes controller bindings for some games, dashboard flicker and keyboard issues, and adds accessibility options for dominant-eye selection and single-eye tracking.
Steam Frame runs its own ARM64 branch of SteamOS, and the update lands as Valve continues working through headset reservations after another reported wave at the end of September.
