Summary
Lexington County's coroner said Elena Katherine Moore, 39, died of natural causes from cardiac dysrhythmia with premature ventricular contractions, nearly four months after her body was found on June 17.
An autopsy found no traumatic injuries, strangulation or sexual assault, and toxicology detected alcohol but no other substances, leading investigators to rule out homicide.
Margaret Fisher said Moore's husband, Brannon Slice, was never a suspect and had repeatedly tried to get her help during what she described as a severe mental health crisis.
Moore had been involuntarily committed on June 5 and discharged on June 11; after a taxi dropped her at a CVS, she later checked into a Planet Fitness and was last seen on surveillance near a Publix parking lot.
Fisher said records showed Moore had an irregular heartbeat since age 14 and questioned why the mental health facility released her despite documented psychiatric and medical problems.
