Material Capsule Unlocks $3.49 On-Demand Android Widgets via Camera Cutout Gestures
1 articles · Updated · Computerworld · Oct 14
Summary
Material Capsule lets Android users summon widgets from any app by tapping, long-pressing, double-tapping or swiping on the phone’s camera cutout area instead of returning to the home screen.
The app’s standout feature is widget support tied to those gestures, turning the cutout into a pop-up panel for tools such as calendars, notes or app search.
Setup takes about 60 seconds: install the app, grant required permissions, align it to the cutout, then assign a gesture to the “Widget” action and pick any available widget.
Material Capsule is free to download, but widget access requires a $3.49 lifetime premium upgrade or a 99-cent one-month trial.
The approach expands Android’s productivity options beyond standard home-screen widgets, while the app also offers Dynamic Island-style shortcuts and notification cards.
