AWS Previews Bedrock Managed Agents With OpenAI, Adds Models Up to 6x Faster

3 articles · Updated · AWS Blog · Oct 5

Summary

  • AWS said Amazon Bedrock Managed Agents powered by OpenAI are now in public preview, letting customers run OpenAI-optimized agents entirely inside AWS with existing identity, permission and governance controls.
  • The service uses a customized, AWS-native version of OpenAI’s Agents API and offers two execution options: self-hosted compute or Bedrock AgentCore Runtime with managed sessions and configurable storage.
  • AWS also expanded Bedrock’s model lineup with OpenAI GPT-6.1 Sol, which OpenAI says nears GPT-6 Astra at about one-fifth the cost, and GPT-6 Astra UltraFast, which promises up to 6x faster inference at 300 tokens per second.
  • Anthropic Claude Sonnet 5.5 and SpaceXAI Grok 4.7 were added as well, broadening Bedrock’s choices for coding, browser-use and mixed-document workloads as AWS pushes deeper into agentic AI.
