Summary
Victoria Police charged one 14-year-old and two 15-year-old boys over the Oct. 5 assault and robbery of a 15-year-old autistic boy near Stawell railway station.
Police said the victim was lured to the area through a fake Snapchat meetup arranged with two girls, then punched, kicked and forced to hand over his shoes in an attack filmed by onlookers.
Four search warrants led to the arrests, and all three suspects face affray, robbery, recklessly causing injury and theft charges; a fourth boy is still to be interviewed.
The boy, who also has epilepsy, suffered soft-tissue and possible head injuries, while his mother said he has returned home but is having nightmares and is afraid to go outside.
Superintendent Dan Davison called the attack an isolated incident but said extra patrols would continue across Stawell as detectives pursue the wider investigation.
